Product Description
W-1 water-hardening tool steel. It has uniform machining properties and consistent response to heat treatment through carefully controlled chemical analysis. It is a fine-grained electric furnace-melted commercial grade tool steel which is supplied in the fully-spheroidized 100% decarb-free condition. W-1 is the most popular, versatile, and least expensive grade of drill rod. The through-hardening characteristic has optimum response to heat treatment and provides toughness and excellent wear-resistance in service. Its high carbon content allows it to be used often without heat treatment for many applications. The Diameter tolerance is +/-0.0003 for rod diameters less than .124 inch, +/-0.0005 inch for diameters .125 to.499 inch, and +/-0.001 inch for diameters of .500 inch and greater. The Length |L| tolerance is +.500/-.000 inch. Color Code: Red.- Material: Tool Steel
